BHC is the heart of the largest Walloon Belgian settlement in the US and surrounded by homesteads dating back to the first settlers.

Your visit begins before you even pull into the lot. Take the scenic route through the Namur National Historic District—the largest Belgian settlement in the United States. Keep an eye out for the unique red brick architecture and the small roadside chapels that have stood as landmarks of community and faith for over a century.

Step inside the restored church and school/convent to discover the resilience of the Belgian pioneers. Professionally curated exhibits bring their stories to life, from the difficult journey to the New World, the devastating Great Fire of 1871, and the rebuilding of today’s communities. Don’t just read about history—touch it, hear it, and find your own connection to the settlement.
A Place to Linger
After touring the exhibits, slow down and enjoy the quiet beauty of the Belgian countryside. Our historic campus offers plenty of green space to stretch your legs or enjoy a picnic under the Wisconsin sky. Visit the St. Roch Chapel, walk the paths of the immigrant cemetery, and take a moment to reflect on the legacy of the families who built this community.

Admissions & Volunteers
BHC does not charge an admission fee, but a suggested donation of $5 per person during regular hours is greatly appreciated. A $10 per person/$30 minimum donation is appreciated for appointments.
BHC docents, tour guides and staff are all volunteers – your entire donation supports BHC’s mission to preserve and share Belgian history and culture.

Hours:
The Belgian Heritage Center is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from Memorial Weekend through October. We are also open throughout the year by appointment – please contact us at least one week in advance of your visit.
BHC’s outdoor exhibits, St. Roch roadside chapel and Our Lady of the Snows Historic Cemetery are accessible to visitors at all times.
Directions:
BHC is 22 miles north of Green Bay and 18 miles south of Sturgeon Bay just off Highway 57. Exit on Highway 57 on County Y and follow signs to the Historical Marker.
BHC is ADA accessible. A lift and dedicated parking is located at the east entrance.
